Debut NovelLA Out NOW

Paris by Veronica Tyler

Emma has built a new life far from the American South that once held her heart. A decade has passed since she left behind the secrets and forbidden desires that still linger in the corners of her memory.

But fate has a way of bringing the past to the present. A sudden yearning for the familiar draws Emma back to the place she once called home. With hesitant fingers, she reaches out to a former friend, hoping to rekindle a love that time and distance could not extinguish.

As the flames of passion reignite, Emma is faced with the consequences of forbidden longing and the ghosts of choices made long ago. In the shadow of Parisian boulevards and Southern magnolias, she must navigate the complexities of desire, forgiveness, and the enduring power of a love that refuses to be forgotten.

Will Emma find solace in the arms of her past, or is the cost of rekindling forbidden love too steep?

… A beautiful and moving expression of anguish …

I could not put this novella down once I started. Veronica’s lyrical prose deeply portrays the characters’ inner most emotions with such heartaching beauty. I found myself full of longing and melancholy with each turn of the page.

To anyone who has loved and lost, this is a story of devotion you will not want to miss. I never knew closure could be so woefully beautiful, nor heartbreakingly unexpected.

This story is uniquely written and leaves you breathless while considering your own forbidden love and deepest secrets.

This is a book for those who truly know themselves, and what they want, despite what others think and want for them.

I am in awe of Paris. The moment I saw it’s brilliant cover, I knew I had to read the book. I don’t know what it was, but I needed to read it, even though the blurb informed me that it was a genre (Romance) I hardly ever read. Paris is an epistolary novella in parts, which makes it all the more appealing. The plot is an emotional rollercoaster, a cliched statement, but true in this case as I went through the myriad emotions the protagonists suffer during the book’s duration. The writing is simple yet effective and laden with longing, tragedy, and love, themes that form the crux of the plot. Paris is a beautiful novel that explores forbidden love and regret while acting as a cautionary tale about how we often let go of the people we love the most over minor differences. In the book’s simplicity lies tremendous complexity which is why Paris is probably the best book I’ve read this year...

Truly an astounding debut novella. Paris is poetic in every sense of the word: prose, themes, and plot, managing to capture a shocking amount of emotion and character building in under 90 pages...
